His attorney, Roy M. Terry Jr. with Sands Anderson, said the restaurant had tax debt that Hawkins was not aware of when he became the full owner about a year ago.
The tax debt has increased since then, Terry said. “We don’t have the precise numbers but about $300,000 is owed on federal, state and city taxes.”
