Turns out Buddy’s won’t have to leave Robinson Street at the end of this year:
Buddy’s will be hanging around for at least three more years at the corner of Stuart Avenue and Robinson Street, after lease negotiations with the owners of the building and the business.

Buddy’s, the Fan restaurant known for its outdoor patio, neighborhood feel and down-to-earth regulars, must find a new location after 30 years on the corner of Robinson Street and Stuart Avenue. The restaurant’s lease is up at the end of the year and isn’t being renewed, manager Angie Dudley confirms.
Comments on the “Save Buddy’s” group on Facebook indicate that another restaurant tenant has been arranged for the space.

The Richmond community has another, though more limited, recipe collection documenting the history of some well known Fan restaurants. In 2000 Ann Meade Bensenfelder published Signs of Good Taste: recollections & recipes from Richmond’s historic Fan restaurants. Twelve vintage Fan restaurants were profiled: Buddy’s, Chiocca’s, Davis & Main, Helen’s, Joe’s Inn, Julian’s, Robin Inn, Sally Bell’s Kitchen, Sobel’s, Stella’s, Strawberry Street Café, and the Village Café. A brief history, photographs, and selected recipes from each restaurant are included.
