Postbellum applying for ABC on/off & keg permit license
Postbellum, the new restaurant going into the old Mulligan’s spot, applied for a Wine & Beer on/off/Keg Permit/Mixed Beverage ABC license on May 16, 2013.
Postbellum will be owner Ron Morse’s third restaurant (he also owns Baja Bean Company and Station 2).
After several months in business, a new chef from EAT by Pescado’s China Street was brought in to revamp the menu. Having experienced the eclectic menu there, I had hoped for more unique flavors to go along with the take-out favorites. Yet, while the food is mostly tasty, Boo’s Brown Bag doesn’t deliver much to make it stand out in a crowded field.

With a creatively comforting menu tailored to mesh with its notable draft beer selection, The Savory Grain has the basics down pat. But, when you throw in the welcoming vibe created by thoughtful décor and good service, those basics get even better.
This won’t go down easy: Sally Bell’s Kitchen, the bakery and sandwich shop on West Grace Street, of the famous potato salad and upside-down cupcakes, just might be gobbled up by Virginia Commonwealth University.
