Nelson: Boo’s is ok, whatever

Leah Nelson says that Boo’s is kind of “meh”:

After several months in business, a new chef from EAT by Pescado’s China Street was brought in to revamp the menu. Having experienced the eclectic menu there, I had hoped for more unique flavors to go along with the take-out favorites. Yet, while the food is mostly tasty, Boo’s Brown Bag doesn’t deliver much to make it stand out in a crowded field.

Good words for The Savory Grain

Dana Craig has good things to say about The Savory Grain:

With a creatively comforting menu tailored to mesh with its notable draft beer selection, The Savory Grain has the basics down pat. But, when you throw in the welcoming vibe created by thoughtful décor and good service, those basics get even better.

VCU to end Sally Bell’s?

Style Weekly has a look at the uncertain future of Sally Bell’s Kitchen:

This won’t go down easy: Sally Bell’s Kitchen, the bakery and sandwich shop on West Grace Street, of the famous potato salad and upside-down cupcakes, just might be gobbled up by Virginia Commonwealth University.

A quick look at Dinamo

The new Dinamo (pronounced dì-na-mo) in the old 821 Bakery space on Cary Street at the edge of Oregon Hill has been open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a few weeks now. The cozy retro-Futurism inspired spot by Ed Vasaio, Brad Wein, and Mya Anitai brings something new to Richmond, and feels like it’s been here for decades.
